Ivan Rojas Quartet

Ivan Rojas (Guitar)
Enrique Oliver (Tenor sax)
Dimitri Skidanov (Acoustic bass)
Juan Luis Castaño (Drums)

The Ivan Rojas Quartet was formed at the start of the year 2006 with the aim of recording a disc which would reflect the themes of composer & guitarrist Ivan Rojas. For this, they called on three important musicians living in Barcelona, where Ivan happened to be residing at the time - tenor sax player Enrique Oliver, contrabassist Dimitri Skidanov & drummer Juan Luis Castaño. The disc was recorded in December 2006, and as a result of that they began performing at a number of music festivals held at different venues all over Spain. Ivan Rojas' musical compositions can be defined as jazzistic, in which an attempt to reflect the mood of life nowadays is made. Among these themes we come across simple melodies yet full of deep feeling, such as in the ballads "Natalia" & "Ojalá fuera un sueño", and can also listen to more complex melodic compositions, as in the themes "Rebujato" or "Sauzalito". Each & every song is different to one another, but the musicians who feature on the recording, have managed to achieve that they all follow the same line of sound, and so, to hear them, we get the sensation of a piece of well defined work.
