Born in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the pianist & composer Eduardo Rojo will present his new album titled Exploration at the festival "Festival Internacional Canarias Jazz&Más Heineken". Rojo began his studies at the "Conservatorio Superior de Música (Conservatory of Higher Music) of Tenerife", then moved to Barcelona where he obtained his piano degree, specialising in Jazz & Modern Music at the "ESMUC", being tutored by teachers Albert Bover and Lluís Vidal. In the year 2007 he went to New York where he had the opportunity to study with pianists Michael Kanan & Luis Perdomo and arranger Rich Shemaria.
He cut his first solo disc this year titled Exploration, an album in which he felt the need to go into and explore the rhythmic aspects of avant-garde jazz, an area which, in his opinion, is used little in the Canaries, even though it plays such a fundamental role in current jazz. Exploration is fresh and dynamic, comprising totally of his own compositions where the groove has a vital part.
