João Bosco, Dhafer Youssef, Kenny Garrett, Cyrille Aimée, Christian Sands, Keyon Harrold, Allan Harris, Michael Olivera, Eva Cortés, Gilad Hekselman, Myles Sanko, Jungle Fire, Tanika Charles, Yotam Silberstein, Iñaki Arakistain, Ida Nielsen, Julian Lage and Naughty Professor are some of the artists that make up the billing at this 27th edition of the Festival Internacional Canarias Jazz & Más Heineken, which kicks off this week and will be staged between 6 & 22 July at venues covering once again most of the Canary Islands. ‘Noche África’ (Africa Night), featuring Alex Ikot & Nelida Karr, and various other local bands complete said billing for a new presentation of this well seasoned Canarian festive event. + INFO

The 27th edition of the Festival Internacional Canarias Jazz & Más Heineken kicks off in the Squares – Plaza Alisios of the Tenerife Auditorium and Plaza de España of Los Llanos de Aridane in La Palma, with a programme featuring 49 concerts taking us also to the islands of Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, La Graciosa & Gran Canaria. The public square of Santa Ana bids farewell this Saturday to the 26th edition of the Festival Internacional Canarias Jazz & Más Heineken with performances by two US bands, Palo! & ‘King’ Solomon Hicks, and also the Gran Canaria Big Band. The concert starts at 21.00 hours (free entrance) and puts an end to the programme in Gran Canaria, which says goodbye with Latin rhythms, blues & classic jazz. + INFO

Polo Ortí and Palo!, two top acts in the closing stages of the Festival Canarias Jazz & Más Heineken in Puerto de la Cruz

Puerto de la Cruz will experience an intense weekend of jazz with five concerts featuring different styles of the genre, but with jazz as the common link between them. The 26th edition of the Festival Canarias Jazz & Más Heineken closes in the northern municipality of the island with concerts staged over two sessions (Saturday 22 & Sunday 23), featuring local groups with fairly extensive musical trajectories, like the Polo Ortí Group (pianist from Tenerife, now resident in Valencia), Powafunk (led by the saxophonist from Gran Canaria Charlie Moreno, based in Barcelona) and Tirando Onda, a local band but with lots of Brazilean musical influences. This concert, under the heading of “D’Canarios” will take place on Saturday ((21.00 hours, public square – Plaza Europa). The stellar closing concert will be held on Sunday featuring two US groups, but with distinctive styles. On the one hand, the rhythm & blues of King Solomon Hicks, and on the other, the Afro-Cuban Funk of Palo! (Sunday, same time & place). + INFO

Puerto de la Cruz once again is host with the public square – Plaza de Europa being the chosen venue to stage concerts at the Festival Canarias Jazz & Más Heineken, featuring a performance by one of the star acts at this 26th edition, Cory Henry & The Funk Apostles. The renowned group Snarky Puppy’s keyboard player heads the night’s billing on Friday 21 July, with added performances by two local groups; one led by drummer JM Churchi, Son de la Tierra and the other BlueInGreen, a band founded by saxophonist Morgan Hernández.
