Djarabikan Balafon

DJARABIKAN is a Malinke word (an ethnic group from the north of the Ivory Coast) which means “the voice of love”.

We are dealing with a group of young musicians whose purpose is to preserve & promote their ancestral legacy, the balafon (a kind of wooden xylophone). An original Afrojazz group consisting of five musicians (3 balafon players and 2 percussionists) who have a CD released titled Au coeurs des coeurs.

They have participated in enterprises like the UN peace march with other artists, in their native country in the years 2008 & 2009.

They have also represented the Ivory Coast at festivals and artistic gatherings in Algeria, Mali, Burkina Faso, Libya, Tunisia & Italy and received the “Prize for Excellence 2015” by the Ivory Coast Government for performing arts.
