El Buzo Ruso is a band formed by a group of musician friends from the Canaries in the summer of 2014, based on original compositions by contrabassist and leader of the ensemble, Javier Presa Bosch. From the very beginning the group was conceived with the purpose of recording & releasing three discs over a period of three consecutive years; that is to say, one per year.
After some months of work, the group was assembled by sound engineer Pedro Hernández, and they began to rehearse & prepare for the recording of their first disc, titled Mi charco azul. This was the result of a musical pre-production and not a studio recording, made with limited resources and expense. Mi charco azul is made up of fourteen themes and is also a declaration of their intentions, as regards the composition & musical concept of the group; as well as a starting point for the sound definition of a band whose intention is to progress & develop over the next two recording projects.
El Buzo Ruso is now in the process of preparing its second pre-production, titled Five ways to fly, which will be recorded at the end of this summer.
At the festival Canarias Jazz & Más, the group will perform a selection of pieces from their first disc together with some advance samples from what will be their next recorded release.
