Producer, composer & multi-instrumentalist, Munir Hossn is the product of a blend between Brazil, Europe, the Middle East and Africa. After having journeyed a great deal covering his own native Brazilean culture, and collaborating with fellow Brazilean artists, like Hermeto Pascoal, Gilberto Gil, Daniela Mercury & Roberto Mendes, among others, he has also collaborated on an international level with a host of important artists from different countries, such as Joe Zawinul Syndicate (Austria) Didier Lockwood (France) Mayra Andrade (Cape Verde) Concha Buika (Spain), Woz Kaly (Senegal) , Quincy Jones (USA), Gumbo All Stars feat. Alfredo Rodriguez (Cuba) and many others …
Hossn presents his album Made in Nordeste, which is a quest and tribute to the rhythms & melodies from Northeast Brazil, in a sophisticated reinterpretation featuring different shades, tones & accents, which make his music quite unique & worldly.
Just by listening to Munir Hossn’s compositions and arrangements, we can imagine how very different these cultures are. Brazilian, the mixture of Angolan, Arab, Italian, and indigenous of Brazil all go to make him one of the most original artists in the jazz world.
