His new disc, Islander’s Dilemma, is a reflection of a wandering islander. One who stems from many places and yet nomadic from each & every one of them. An islander who drowns when he is on land and breathes, at ease, in the water. This sea, which binds him, sometimes with dreams and at other times with chains. An islander recluse in the solitude of his island and a fugitive from it. Islander’s Dilemma is an echo of his experiences & wanderings through every one of these places, both real and imaginary. Islander’s Dilemma is a reflection of a stone carved by different seas, drop by drop at times and battered at others.
In addition, the artist from Tenerife has been awarded a prize at the competition for composers & arrangers ‘Certamen de Composición y Arreglos’ for Big Band jazz foundation ‘Fundación de Jazz’ in Granada and the foundation ‘Fundación SGAE’, also being a finalist at the national contest ‘Certamen Nacional de Jazz’ in Castellón, as well as a semi-finalist in the competition ‘Keep And Eye Jazz Award’. Natanael combines this side of his international career with the management of the ‘Laboratorio Atlántico de Jazz y Nuevas Músicas’ (Atlantic Laboratory of Jazz & New Music) and his teaching work at the music school ‘Escuela Insular de Música’ in La Palma.
