Alain Amani Goly is the actual name of ‘Spyrow’, a talented musician who started his career as a percussionist in Buaké, in the north of the Ivory Coast, with the figure of Alpha Blondy as a strong reference.
After playing with the group ‘Chevaliers du Temple Oublié’, he joined ‘Kingston Gangstar’ in the year 2002, one of the most popular bands in West Africa at that time. Jah Bless, the band’s first album which was released in 2005, allowed him to make his debut as lead singer and get to know the musical ambience of his region and country.
In the year 2008, he opted to begin his solo career with his first CD, titled Jahmo Jahmo (Thanks be to God – in the Baulé language), which features some eleven songs recorded between Abiyán and Dakar and had collaborations by Didier Awadi, Xuman, Daddy Maky, Kajeem & Kalujah.
He formed his own group, the Jahmo Band, and was nominated for the best reggae artist at SUMMUM (annual award-winners ceremony for best Ivory Coast artists) in 2010. He then formed the duo ‘Ghetto Reporters’, with Kajeem, in 2011, and the following year featured in the list of nominees for the ‘Prix Découverte RFI/France24’ (RFI France Discovery Prize).
His second album, Jusqu’au Bout, features seventeen live tracks, with collaborations by musicians like Manjul, JB Moudele and Tiwony.
Spyrow blends, with freshness, the tones from the African continent and new wave Jamaican groove.
