The spectacular voice of Susana Sheiman joins the warm sound of Canarian trumpeter Chano Gil in an innovative combination where the blend of a classic jazz quartet backs one of the most unpredictable & striking voices on the current jazz scene.
Susana Sheiman is one of the most individual & acclaimed vocalists on the current Spanish jazz scene. Born in Madrid in 1973, she began her professional career as a soul singer with a multitude of groups at the age of sixteen, moving to Barcelona where she burst onto the jazz scene of the city in a meteoric fashion. Susana acknowledges her admiration for Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Billie Holiday, Anita O’Day, Judy Garland, Kay Starr, Aretha Franklin, Nancy Wilson & Rachelle Ferrell, vocalists who have inspired her in the creation of her own personal style. The quality of her voice tone, variety of subtleties, her extensive range, the force of her presence on stage and the intense expression of her renditions, transform Susana’s concerts into unique & emotional moments; a powerful show of gospel, swing & soul by virtue of an incomparable voice.
Chano Gil is one of the most versatile trumpeters of his generation. As director of the Gran Canaria Big Band, he is characterized by the quality of its sound and of portraying to its components an exquisite idea in relation to chamber music. The use of the flugelhorn is characteristic, and very much so of this Canarian musician, who has his own unique view of jazz-oriented concept.
