This group comes to the Canaries composed of twelve exceptional musicians, from the best on the British musical scene, noted for their outstanding vocals, powerful wind section and exquisite percussion. Incognito is led by the guitarrist & producer from London, Jean-Paul ‘Bluey’ Maunick, who has written most of the band’s compositions.
For their two performances on the Canary Islands, Saturday 23 July in Puerto de la Cruz and on Sunday 24 July at the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium in LPGC, the band’s line-up is Jean Paul Maunick, rhythm guitar; Vanesa Haynes, Tony Momrelle & Katie Leone, vocals; Francis Hylton, bass; Matt Cooper, keyboards; Joao Caetano, percussion; Francisco Sales, lead guitar; Francesco Mendolia, drums; Sid Gauld, trumpet; Alistair White, trombone and Paul Booth, saxophone & flute.
Incognito is an acid jazz band with surprisingly deep roots in the jazz/funk/fusion world. It was a personal project born in the early ‘80s of Jean Paul Maunick, influenced by Steve Wonder & Marvin Gaye, as well as Santana, Earth Wind & Fire and Kool & The Gang. They celebrated their thirtysixth anniversary last year with the release of their seventeenth album, maintaining the same style of jazz funk.
From the outset and right until now, ‘Bluey’ has always had the collaboration of some of the best vocalists & instrumentalists, who have taken part in his many recordings and live tours.
The year 2010 saw the release of a two-CD ‘Live in London: The 30th Anniversary & Transatlantic R.P.M., featuring guest artists Chaka Khan, Mario Biondi, Leon Wre, Al McKay, Christian Urich (Torture Soul), Ursula Rucker and Maysa Leak, among others. The rendition of the classic by Boz Scaggs on this disc boosted the international fame of Incognito.
‘Surreal’, released in 2012, featured the collaboration of Vanessa Haynes, Natalie Williams and Mo Brandis, together with young new musicians in the rhythm section, surprising & pleasing their many fans for its originality and fresh direction.
In the year 2014 they released ‘Amplified Soul’ and this year, 2016 their very latest, titled ‘In Search Of Better Days’.
